Welcome!

If you are here, you are probably interested in straw bale or green building, are checking on the progress of my house (completed, at least according to the County, in August, 2004 — still lots of cosmetic stuff to do,) or you are lost. If you are lost, click the "back" button on your browser until you see something that looks familiar and safe, then breathe a deep sigh of relief at your escape....

Warning!
This site has IMPD — Internet Multiple Personality Disorder. It is designed to be:

  • A record of the construction of my straw bale home in Jamul, California

  • A resource for information on Green Building materials, practices, and resources

  • A primer, of sorts, on how the process of building your own home works (hopefully, a book is forthcoming for greater detail on this...when I have time to finish it!)

While IMPD is not contagious, it is recommended that you take a good dose of "caveat" before perusing this site: all information is based on personal experience, my own research, and the state of my knowledge at any given moment. This is not intended to be the all-inclusive, be-all-and-end-all, bellwether, pinnacle, epitome, ne plus ultra, apogee, etc. of green-building sites. Besides putting a strain on my thesaurus, that just sounds exhausting.

Much of the site remains under construction, due to the time constraints imposed by my business and life in general. I will continue to update and expand this web site as time allows. Many thanks to all for their encouragement and support through the construction process and the continuing aftermath.

Now that you are innoculated, explore and enjoy!
